Registration Forms for Wendy's classes.

Wendy is a published, award winning quilt artist who found her passion for quilting in 1993. Since 1997, she has taught and lectured about the art of quilting at conferences, guilds and retreats across the country. Her work appears regularly in juried shows and galleries as well as in private collections nationally and internationally. Wendy's original art quilts are noted for their bold use of color, unusual fabrics and a combination of unconventional techniques. "Wendy's creative passion and energetic teaching style encourages and inspires students and keeps them coming back for more."

Wendy's new book, Photo Album Quilts published by Lark Books, can be ordered from her website and features her machine picture image appliqué process, 27 images of her quilts and many tips and tricks.

Wendy will be teaching two classes. Wednesday, September 22nd, is  "Captivating Coneflower" This class is for the confident beginner to advanced quilter.

Learn the process of creating simple pictorial quilts from a photograph or picture. We will use Wendy’s original design pattern “Captivating Cone Flower ” and cover her how-to picture image appliqué steps that include freezer paper, glue stick and free motion invisible machine appliqué. You will gain the confidence and the know how to use one of your own cherished photos or pictures in an original piece.

Thursday, September 23rd, is "Out of the Blocks Quilt Design"  This class is for the confident beginner to advanced quilter.

Exploring the many elements of design requires the opportunity to play in an encouraging and relaxed environment without committing to yet another unfinished quilt project.

The “Out of the Blocks Quilt Design,” workshop will cover the basic aspects of design through discussion, viewing photos and slides, and hands-on exercises. With no sewing and using ‘mini measurements,” students can create one or more small original block designs. Working in a “mini” scale, using fabric, paper and glue allows students to experiment with numerous options without committing a lot of precious time and fabric. Brief demonstrations including paper piecing, curved piecing, fusing, and creating templates will offer students techniques for translating their original block designs to full scale outside of class.
